Nurses Honor Guard Membership
Welcome and thank you for your interest in the CT Nurses Honor Guard Membership!
Membership is open to all nurses living or working in Connecticut. Becoming a member means that you can offer support behind the scenes such as recruiting nurses, getting referrals from obituaries, or helping with fundraisers. Or you can take a more active role and attend tributes. There is no requirement; members can attend where and when they are able.
How do I know if membership is right for me?
Membership may be right for you if:
You want to make a difference in the lives of your colleagues
You want give back to the profession
What does membership include?
Membership includes:
Information about upcoming tributes
Zoom link to monthly meetings
Opportunity to be spotlighted on the website
A built-in community of compassionate colleagues
What is the cost of membership?
Membership is a $10 annual fee. This is the only required cost. However, members who would like to attend tributes must purchase their own uniform:
For women: white scrubs with white socks and shoes
For men: white pants with a blue scrub top or polo shirt
A blue cape
How often are meetings?
Zoom meetings are held the first Monday of every month, at 7:00 pm. Invitations are sent via email and are also posted to member webpages.
How do I know how to participate in a tribute?
Members are provided with an orientation document and video to watch in advance. Nurses can also be trained quickly on the spot! During a funeral service, The Nightingale Tribute is read. The family is provided with a Nightingale lamp, a silk rose, a Crocheted White Heart, a sympathy card, and a written copy of The Nightingale tribute (at no cost to the family).
